First Muay Thai class (no longer a striking...
So if you’ve been following my Fitocracy updates, you’d noticed that I’ve been doing some Muay Thai classes. The story is that the BJJ gym is currently closed for the holidays and Sparta Muay Thai (an affiliate of Tiger Muay Thai) are having free tryouts this entire week. So me and a couple of members from the BJJ gym, decided to check out some Muay Thai classes and see...

Anonymous asked: i dont want to be a critic but frank mirs talking about when he kimura'd antoni hardonk in the video. and im sure hes known that technique way longer than 1.5 years. im sure white belts learn that in their first month. you always switch base and step over for a kimura.

The truth about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (the good, the...
Since starting my Tumblr, I’ve gotten a lot of Asks and inquiries about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While on one hand I’m glad, another small part of me is afraid to even recommend the sport to these women. If you’re curious about what a first class is like, read Leslie’s awesome article on what to expect.
Anyway, this article isn’t about the benefits of Brazilian Jiu...

– Posted by Hillary Williams on Sherdog
For those days where NOTHING seems to work in any of your rolls, just remember Cyborg’s advice to Hillary. :) (no it’s not meant to be a crutch of excuses but for the days where you feel so shitty about your training and begin to question your belt...

Staying in the middle during drill time...
In my academy, the whole class participates in 30 minute game drills. Coach will usually call 5-6 people (usually senior belts who are skilled in the drill objective) to go to the middle and the rest of the class will form a line. Then he’ll give an objective so the winner* of the objective stays in the middle and the loser goes out to the line. Normally in these type of drills I don’t...

Yoga for Fighters
We’ve been having Yoga on Monday’s for a while at the gym and I can slowly see the benefits of Yoga creeping into my game. I hereby admit that I am the most inflexible girl you will ever met, you know that stereotype that girls are better at flexibility? NUH UH I will disprove that stereotype. The average guy has more flexibility than I do… so um if I can do Yoga I’m sure...

Italian Tomato Salad
Apart from making the brownies, I also cooked 2 pots of salads (to balance out all the meat) for the gym’s annual BBQ.
On the left is an Italian Tomato Bread Salad and on the right is the Japanese Potato Salad.
Healthy and light and goes absolutely delicious with some hearty toasted Italian bread. Mmmmmm ;)
Recipe after the cut!
The inspiration for this came from Ben’s...

Semi-healthy Chocolate Brownie but still as fudgey...
A challenge was tasked upon me, to make a nice tasting fudgey brownie but try to make it semi-healthy for the gym’s annual BBQ party. Could it be done? I wasn’t sure myself but was definitely up for the challenge.
Anyway, I am very happy to show the success of my experiments (to which 40 over hungry BJJers and their WAGS said it was a frickin awesome brownie and were super...
